We have had information that thefts from motor vehicles are happening in Arnos Grove and victims are not reporting it to Police.

If you’ve been a victim of crime, you’ll need to decide whether or not to tell the police.
“Is it worth reporting?” “We won’t hear back.” “It’s too difficult to get through on 101.” “I don’t understand how to report.”

These are common perceptions on reporting crime and anti-social behaviour to the Police.
While sharing an incident of crime on a WhatsApp group does help to make others aware of criminal activity, this is not enough to combat crime in society and so it is also imperative to report an incident.

It is important to report crime to create a proper database according to our crime threat and crime pattern analysis, and to address crime accordingly. If crime is not reported, statistics will not be accurate and Police will not be able to address crime correctly. Inaccurate crime statistics cannot show where more resources are needed or where fewer resources are needed as a community grows safer.

No crime is too small to be reported and every one of us can play a role in curbing crime in this country by reporting crime. The only value a crime has is that when it is reported it becomes intelligence for police and other security resources to use to fight criminals and get them off our streets.

For us to be able to do something, we need to know about it. If you don’t tell us, don’t assume someone else will.

Please also report illegal parking when it is taking place by calling the Parking Shop on 020 3856 0036. This line is open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. You can also report vehicles that are obstructing driveways by calling the Parking Shop or the Parking Team on 020 8379 6406 Mon-Fri 9am-12 noon.

Vehicles parked on double yellow lines or on the footway can be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed if appropriate.

Unfortunately, legislative restrictions mean that the council cannot enforce illegal parking by the use of a CCTV Camera.  CCTV camera enforcement can only be used to capture moving traffic contraventions and School Keep Clear restrictions. A Parking attendant is required to be present at the time the vehicle is parked in contravention for a Penalty Charge Notice to be served.
